If any fragrant part of a plant, in particular its flowers, is distilled, after cooling the product, an oily insoluble liquid is obtained which is referred to the essential oil of that plant. So, what it is referred to essential oil, is the natural product of just one plant. Since the oil content of almost all plants such as rose, and jasmine, is very low, usually a large amount of crude plant is needed to produce small amount of essential oils. For example, ten thousand kilograms of rose petals is needed to obtain one kilogram of rose oil. Therefore, essential oils are very expensive products. This is the major factor which leads the industry to replace essential oils with synthetic molecules. If an oil is inexpensive, such as eucalyptus oil, departing natural oil to use synthetic material is not rational.
